Purpose of Stichting Formation

Stichting Formation aims to support women in STEM research

We believe that having more women in STEM will provide them with a sustainable economic basis in their work life and will forward the research in this area in a more balanced way.

Our foundation is Dutch based, is family run and originates from a deep belief that women can make the difference in all aspects of life and work.

With the foundation, we supply small grants for Women in STEM research to support their academic journey. Think about traveling cost for a conference, housing cost for an exchange with a faculty in your research area, an experimental set up which needs additional funding etc.


Eligibility criteria

  • You are a woman working in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and,
  • You are pursuing a MSc or PhD degree outside of the Netherlands, or you are doing a postdoc outside of the Netherlands and,
  • You are planning to come to the Netherlands for a scientific exchange or conference

How to apply

You are requested to complete the application form fully, including the requested information and additional documents


The following must be added to the completed application form:

  • Your Curriculum Vitae, including a full publication list

  • An invitation letter from the (associate) Dutch based professor whose research/faculty you are joining (if applicable: the supervisor(s)); OR

  • A reference letter from the laboratory/institute you currently work AND the invitation letter of the conference you will speak at
  • You can request upto € 750,- within Europe and upto €1.500,- for the rest of the world

Due to the large number of applications received, we are sorry to inform you that as of  8-5-2024 it is not longer possible to apply for a grant in 2024

Procedure 

What's next?

  • The application form, including attachments, must be fully filled, including all requested documents, will be reviewed at the end of every quarter and should be submitted 2 weeks before the end of the quarter

  • Latest by the last day of the quarter, you will be informed about the outcome of your application. In case a grant is awarded, all details will be confirmed shortly after

  • In case your mail address, phone number or other personal details change over the following months, you are requested to inform us at info@stichtingformation.nl
